At The Shokunin, we take pride in the quality of our artisanal products. However, we understand that sometimes returns are necessary. Our return policy is designed to be fair to both our customers and our artisans.

Return Window

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. For damaged or defective items, the return window is extended to 7 days after you discover the issue, up to a maximum of 60 days from delivery.

Return Process

To initiate a return, please follow these steps:

  1. Contact our team: Email us at team@theshokunin.com or use our Contact Form with your order number and reason for return.
  2. Receive return authorization: We'll review your request and send you a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and return instructions within 48 hours.
  3. Package your return: Carefully pack the item in its original packaging if possible. Include the RMA number on the outside of the package.
  4. Ship the return: Send the package to the address provided in the return instructions using a trackable shipping method.
  5. Await confirmation: Once we receive and inspect your return, we'll notify you about the status of your refund or replacement.

Return Conditions

To be eligible for a return, your item must meet these conditions:

  • The item must be in its original condition
  • The item must be unused and unwashed
  • The item must be in the original packaging when possible
  • You must have proof of purchase (order number or confirmation email)

Exceptions and Non-Returnable Items

Certain items cannot be returned due to their nature:

  • Custom or personalized items: Products that were customized or personalized for you cannot be returned unless they're defective.
  • Perishable goods: Food items and other perishables cannot be returned.
  • Digital products: Downloaded or accessed digital content is non-returnable.
  • Gift cards: Gift cards and e-gift cards cannot be returned.
  • Intimate items: For hygiene reasons, certain personal care items cannot be returned once opened.
  • Sale items: Items marked as "Final Sale" or "Non-Returnable" cannot be returned.

Return Shipping

You are responsible for return shipping costs unless:

  • The item received was damaged or defective
  • You received an incorrect item
  • The item significantly differs from its description on our website

In these cases, we'll provide a prepaid shipping label or reimburse your return shipping costs.

Exchanges

If you'd like to exchange an item rather than return it:

  • Follow the same process as returns
  • Specify in your initial contact that you want an exchange
  • Indicate the item and variation (size, color, etc.) you'd like instead
  • If the replacement item is more expensive, you'll need to pay the difference
  • If it's less expensive, we'll refund the difference

Damaged or Defective Items

If you receive a damaged or defective item:

  1. Contact us within 7 days of discovering the issue
  2. Provide clear photographs of the damage or defect
  3. We'll arrange a return or replacement at our expense

For handcrafted items, please note that minor variations in color, texture, and finish are characteristic of artisanal products and are not considered defects.

Important Notes

  • Returns without prior authorization will not be accepted
  • Items returned in used or damaged condition may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 50%
  • Refunds are processed to the original payment method
  • Original shipping costs are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error

International Returns

For international orders:

  • All return policies apply, but shipping times and costs may be higher
  • You are responsible for any customs fees, taxes, or duties incurred during the return process
  • We recommend using a trackable shipping service with insurance

We may update our Return Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Return Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top.
